SMESCO Indonesia Company is a public service agency under the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs that takes place in a building with a unique dome-shape roof, precisely in Jl. Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta – Indonesia. It easy to find the building because there is a branding name in front of the building : SMESCO RumahKU that means ‘Small & Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives or Koperasi & UMKM’
SMESCO itself stands for Small & Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives, where one of its purposes is to promote and market the local products made by the small & medium enterprises to the domestic and international market. To realize the tasks and purposes, SMESCO Indonesia has provided the facilities for market development of those superior products through various activities such as the Gallery of Indonesia WOW, Pavilion Provinces, product exhibitions, marketing training and seminars, the development of export markets through the trading house, etc.
SMESCO Indonesia also cooperates with a number of partners of other countries. It aimed to have good opportunities for Indonesia’s products to access and market. There are a lot of Indonesia Small & Medium Enterprises that become SMESCO’s partner and have upgraded their business to become exporters.
With sustained support, highly creative and innovative SMEs will contribute significantly to creating employment and ensuring sustainable growth. Representing the dynamic regions in the world, Asia and Europe SMEs have much potential in optimizing the SMEs cooperation which will strengthen their capacities in building networking, expanding market and marketing of products.
SMESCO encouraged the local SME companies to display their product there, so the visitors were able to buy directly the products from all Indonesia provinces without coming to each province. The process of submitting the product to be curated and displayed in SMESCO is easy, just bring the product, then the product will be curated, and if the product passed the curation process; the product will eventually be displayed.
It is important for SMESCO to bring a lot of visitors to the building and make the SMESCO building well known by domestic and foreign visitors. That’s why SMESCO Indonesia has a plan to cooperate with international online shops, the Indonesian Embassy and the official tourism department of Indonesia. All of these will truly give a great exposure to the local brand.
SMESCO Indonesia has two kinds of display areas. First, it is called Galeri Indonesia WOW. It is similar to a store or usually also called the Curated Concept Stores. Some of the selected products are displayed here. The Galeri Indonesia WOW is located on the 1st and 2nd floor. On the first floor, the visitors could see various kinds of batik collections; from men’s wear, women’s wear, to children’s. Meanwhile, the 2nd floor is the place where the visitors could find many arts, shoes, bags, and some households.
The second display is the province’s display at Paviliun Provinsi (Provincial Pavilion). The visitors will see a wide variety of products from all provinces in Indonesia. From floor 12 and 15 of Paviliun Provinsi, the visitors could only see several provinces, such as Papua, Jambi, South East of Sulawesi, Bengkulu, Riau, West Sumatera, North Sulawesi, and Jakarta. Guarantee, visitors will amaze to visit this area. They can find many things in this place, from the handicrafts, traditional clothing; including many batik collections, shoes, bags; and of course the food.
